Hello Silk Road Community,
We would like to introduce you to a new BTC exchange service operated in-house* and for the benefit of the Silk Road community:
Borneo Bitcoin Bank
(established 2011)
We at the BBB are old friends with some of the key sellers on the Silk Road. Several of them have asked us if we would be willing to do bitcoin exchanges so that first time buyers and those who are primarily occasional buyers at Silk Road could have a place where they could quickly and cheaply exchange their cash for bitcoins. After a few test runs, we decided we would provide this service because we share the philosophy of the administrators of Silk Run in believing that every adult has the right to choose what goes into their own body. We at BBB hope that our service assists both the buyers and sellers at Silk Road to come together and make the purchasing of recreational substances a simpler and smoother process.
We have a very simple system and there are no variations from it. Here's how it works:
1. The buyer sends Borneo a pm asking for the amount of BTC they wish to buy.
2. Borneo will reply when they come to check the pm's, which is at least four times daily: 9am, noon, 4pm and 8pm EST. Borneo may check them at other times, but these are the four guaranteed times.
3. Borneo will send a reply pm letting the buyer know that the BTC are available and approximately how much they will cost. The final exchange rate will be determined when the pm with the MoneyPak numbers is actually received by Borneo. The rate used will be the exchange rate quoted by Silk Road at that time.
4. The buyer sends back a pm with the MoneyPak number.
5. Borneo will send the BTC directly to the buyer's Silk Road account.
The rules and fees:
*The fee is 10% on orders under $150, 7% on orders $150-300 and 5% on orders over
$300. A buyer is limited to $1000 of BTC purchases per day unless prior arrangements are made with Borneo.
*The fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable.
*The exchange price will be the Silk Road quoted price at the time Borneo replies to
the buyer's pm. Exchange rates will be rounded up to the nearest nickel (e.g. if the
exchange rate is 10.77 the rate given will be 10.80).
*BBB reserves the right to refuse to exchange with anyone based on their attitude.
*Only MoneyPak will be accepted as payment. PayPal and all other forms of payment
are not accepted and pm requests to accept them will be ignored.
*BBB has a large deposit of BTC but if BTC are not available, and BBB cannot fill a buyers order, BBB accepts no liability for any
damages, whether real or imagined, of any kind whatsoever, incurred by the buyer.
OUR DELIVERY GUARANTEE:
All exchanges are guaranteed to be completed within 4 hours of the time you send a
pm with your MoneyPak numbers in it. Most exchanges are completed in 2 hours or
less! Come give us a try and stop being jerked around by the other exchanges!
EXAMPLE TRADE:
Buyer A wants to exchange $350 for bitcoins. The market rate is 10.77. Borneo will
provide the buyer with BTC30.78 which is $350 X 95% divided by 10.80=BTC30.78.

He will NOT scam any of you, he's a great guy and I assure you all he's 100% legit.

I just took the plunge this morning and it worked beautifully. The response time is just as advertised: very fast, and the whole thing was done with a couple PMs.
I'll very likely use his services again.

I am not thrilled that borneo is advertising his services on here because now I am worried that he will become so popular that he will not have BTC for me! I used him and it worked beautifully and super fast! No bank transfers, not waiting for dwolla or whatever, just sent moneypak number and received btc right into my account. He had great communication, he was professional, and I think his fees are fair and reasonable. I know I was concerned about whether this was a scam, but it worked. I was able to make a purchase right away. So borneo, please dont blow up too fast because I want you all for myself! Thanks again!

Like CP, Pharmville used the "beta" version of Borneo's service. We sent about 10 buyers there over a period of 4 days. All of them came back with the same kind of glowing reports that I see here.
It appears that Borneo is the real deal. The one suggestion we gave him was that he needed to have at least 4 times that he would check in for new orders every day and, from his product offer language, has decided to do that.
I would recommend him to all sellers as a place to send your buyers when they need BTC in a hurry! -Alex-

Just wanted to put out there that I have had a successful first BTC transaction with Borneo. Roughly 30 BTC worth, which was done on time without issue. He/she was nice enough to answer all my questions and help my noob self out a bit.
Just for the record Pharmville did send me over - hope things go as nicely with them, but I'm not expecting trouble as he has been quite helpful as well.
Anyway, a few hour turn around vs Dwolla who has yet to get the money posted on my account despite the fact my bank says the transaction is complete (never even saw pending). And I started that process 3 days ago.
So I'm rating Borneo as awesome right now. Hope they don't get too big to handle things so smoothly, but at the same time people need to know.

Just did ANOTHER transaction with borneo. I had my BTC in my account within 2 hours of my first email... and that includes a couple back and forth of him answering a few questions. He went out of the way to make sure I got everything tonight so I was able to place an order a few minutes ago which means- yes, that is right, it will go out in tomorrow's mail. Like said before and someone else just said.... you dont have that luxury with stupid dwolla.

Absolutely amazing transaction!! Told me it would be in the account in under 2hrs, and it came in less than an hour. The rate was accurate and they sent messages at every step of the transaction to explain the process, including an unprompted explanation of how the rate calculation was determined. :) I've used a few processes to get money into SR and this is by far the easiest, fastest, most communicative, and professional of them all.

has anyone done business with Borneo in the past 24 hours? I sent a large sum of money to Borneo and now have lost all communications with them.
***********EDIT: At the request of Borneo, I will say that eventually I got the PM saying that they're taking some time off to reorganize. And the money that I had sent was not touched. So I give Borneo MAJOR props for being honest. However, I was very nervous when there was no communication for a day (weekday).
I'm cautiously excited at the idea that Borneo will be back, better suited for all the demand. I think it's an awesome business plan and I wish them luck. I'll definitely give them another try.******

*TO ALL RECENT POSTERS, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE:
We have had to shut down the exchange service simply because the demand was overwhelming and the system needed an extensive overhaul if we were to continue to provide the same excellent service you read about on this thread and in the feedback on our sellers page. When I realized this 7 day "hiatus" was going to take place I pm'd to every person who had an oustanding question or inquiry and NO ONE'S MONEYPAK WAS CASHED UNLESS THEIR EXCHANGED BITCOINS WERE DELIVERED IN FULL! There were a couple of people who had sent their numbers over and I had to send them back a pm saying that I could not fulfill their order, I believe it was two people, including Corgie. Since these are my own pm's I don't think it's against board rules or etiquette to post them on myself, if it is, then I apologize in advance. I will leave out any details that would give away info about the person I am writing to:

I went back through all 11 days of pm's and their replies, right to the beginning of our opening of the Borneo Bitcoin Bank and I don't have a singe pm from you under the name "floorboards". If you would pm me here or on our sellers page (preferred) then I can address your issues/concerns. But since you didn't send me any MoneyPak numbers that were drawn down and then the BTC's not delivered, could I ask you politely to change your above post so that it is not confusing to anyone who would come to read this thread and possibly come away thinking that that is what had occurred? @Borneo: This source went over and beyond the call of duty. In order to facilitate some trading for me and a long time mutual friend, he came in on a Sunday to help us out. This is awesome considering he is officially closed. Honestly, even I am not sure I would answer emails on the opening Sunday in the NFL!
Everything has been smooth and true to what has been advertized. Reliable. Honest. Accurate.
I am lucky to have met Borneo on my first transactions here. Keep up the great effort and keep providing immediate access to newbs!

We at BBB are happy to announce that from today we are again open for business to exchange MoneyPaks for bitcoins.
We have doubled our capacity to exchange and we are working on another procedure to double it again from that level. We then feel we could handle any amount of exchanges that were thrown at us on any given day. The second increase will take about another 10 days so we might have to limit exchanges for one person to $500 per day until that second increase in capacity is achieved, but we will only do that if absolutely necessary to have a reasonable amount of bitcoins available for every customer rather than having a very large amount available
to only a few. One of our goals at BBB is to encourage and enable new buyers at the Silk Road to make their initial purchases and having bitcoins available to as many people as possible is in keeping with that goal. Our other goal is to ensure that no one who comes to the Silk Road ready to purchase products is unable to simply because they cannot or do not know how to obtain bitcoins.
We feel that both these policy goals are also helpful to smaller sellers who are trying to work with smaller, first-time buyers...which promotes an environment where a new seller can have the greatest chance to compete with a much larger and more established seller.
We will be performing our first round of exchanges at 9:00am EST so be sure to send a pm with the dollar amount and numbers of your MoneyPak cards before then if you want to have your bitcoins in your account first thing Saturday morning as we anticipate a large number of exchanges will be done right at the opening, based on the pm's we have already received.
Thanks once again Silk Road community for your patience while we expanded and upgraded our system for operating the exchange. :D
ETA: I notice that a number of new exchangers have popped up in the short time since we were offline doing the real world work to improve our service and to ensure we could handle all the buyers who wanted to exchange with us on a daily basis. I even notice that at least one of them copied my sellers page so completely that I could have mistaken it for my own! ::) I do not know who operates any of these other exchanges nor will I be making any efforts to find out; therefore I cannot comment intelligently in any way about the integrity or honesty of any of the players behind any of these new exchanges. But everyone who has spent any time so far here at the Silk Road knows that there has been a problem with sellers using fake feedback to lure newbie buyers into trusting them into doing out of escrow sales. A BTC for MoneyPak or U-cash or any other form of cash payment is the equivalent of an out of escrow sale. I would therefore caution any buyer
considering doing an exchange to ask the exchanger for a reference (basically someone who can vouch for him)who is either a reputable seller, a moderator or a well known and trusted forum personality such as Nomad, DigitalAlch, lasagna75, Anarchoa47, Envious or MrDdro; among others, before sending off anything of value that can be exchanged for cash. I would hate to see in the near future a sticky thread listing all the bad experiences buyers had because they dealt with a disreputable BTC exchanger. IF an exchanger cannot provide a reference from at least one person of note in this community of over 3500 people, but expects you to send them your money up front, I would have to question the intelligence of that decision. :o And yes, the Borneo Bitcoin Bank will certainly gladly provide many such references to any buyer upon request. I'm not trying to say to only do business with BBB; I'm just saying "do your exchange with BBB or another exchanger of equal integrity".

Today I messaged Borneo to please help me exchange a $250 moneypak for BTC. Borneo responded to my email promptly and told me he could help me out as soon as I send the moneypak number. I sent him the number and the next time I checked SR, the BTC were already waiting for me on my account! I am amazed by the professionalism of Borneo, and I am glad that I used his service after getting scammed earlier on this week.
To everyone thinking of using a moneypak to BTC service, I HIGHLY recommend Borneo! Don't waste your time AND money by going somewhere else, Borneo is legit and a great person to deal with. I will be using his services again very soon!

I exchanged several mp's with borneo today almost totalling 100 bc's. So fast, the bc's were in my account before I read his reponse. Definatly trustworthy, professional and of the upmost integrety. A+++++++ service, communication and speed. If your going to pass out cash, better pass it to this exchanger for no worries and quick deposit to your account - I bank with BBB!!

Hmm... It's been 15 hours since I messaged Borneo on SR and he hasn't responded.
it's been more than 6 hours since his first guaranteed check of the day (9am EST), more than 3 since his second (noon) and an hour until his 3rd (4pm EST) and still no response.
is this typical? Doesn't seem very "immediate" to me.

Weekends seem to be different and he should clearly state this and correct his FAQ. It it were M-F, you would almost certainly receive this level of service.

update: It's now Tuesday and I've yet to exchange with Borneo.
Yesterday he sent me a message after I sent him a second message requesting a moneypak for BTC exchange. This message didn't come until late in the day, so he was either extremely backlogged or just never got to my message.
Also, the message he sent me was peculiar. He said he got a new account since he sent me the last message (this is the first message he has sent me, is he confused or is something fishy afoot?), and to send the moneypaks, but I asked him if I should send 1 at a time, or up to 3 (i have 3) and he didn't specify, so I sent another message asking for clarification.
It's been 2 hours and 45 minutes since his first guaranteed check-time of the day and still no response to that message, so I'm not sure what's up. I figured since I have a relatively large order, I would have some sort of priority (since he makes more money on % charges), but this clearly isn't the case.
For any other service, this would be acceptable, but when you guarantee a certain level of service, you should maintain that level, or at least explain to your clients why you're currently unable to.
With this said, I plan on hopefully still going through with trying out Borneo's service. Even with these small issues, if there is a method that allows me to trade Moneypak for BTC directly into my SR acc, that's hard to beat, regardless of the level of service received.
I will follow-up as details become available.

For anyone who is thinking about using exchangers, please beware of look-a-like businesses that use similar language to describe their service but they are NOT Borneo. There are too many scammers out there. After lots of research, Borneo is the only reliable source on the SR right now.

@dwjess367 - I certainly don't need to speak for Borneo, but the demand for such a legit business is great and overwhelming. BBB will come through, even if they might be a little late. I agree with another poster that their responsiveness to PM could be improved, but it is a small crew (i think) with real personal lives. I'm not trying to make excuses for them.

Starting to get a bit worried myself. It has been over 13 hours since I have given borneo my moneypak code, during which the Bitcoin has risen a full dollar. Really hoping I'm not about to get ripped off. I'll give it until tomorrow morning before I write him off as a scammer.

oh deer, could be the infamous long con,or...he got nabbed by LE,of which he would be an easy target if he is connecting these cards to his paypal account with his real details.....this would be a great snatch for a rookie cop, taking down someone who is enabling people to buy drugs on a drug forum(by selling them bitcoins),is that a crime???i wonder...hmm....or....maybe hes just busy...probably the later.

I have used Borneo and he is very legit... but something is going on with his system or some shit... If people are needing the same service... look up "BTC Buddy". He was recommended by a very established vendor and he works quick. I do hope everything with Borneo is ok... I like the kid.

I messaged Borneo 15 hours ago looking for a transaction, and no reply yet. The thing causing me slight concern is that it says he has not been on in a day, but he has received positive feedback 22 min ago, and 5 hours ago. He has not done any transactions in that time frame. Why would he receive feedback? I might just be suspicious, but this is a suspicious mans game. I have been burned once already on a Bitcoin for MoneyPak deal by Bitcoinexchange (and ripped off by Slotmachine, not much luck lately).
Am I just being paranoid? He has some rave reviews, but I have seen those before...
Any guidance?

If you imagine Borneo's a trustworthy guy who wants to help you out, but who is fallible and lives a life with his own issues, concerns, and what have you, you'll probably be more on the mark with your suspicions. Who knows how many messages he has to sift through in a day...
Oh, and just for the record, there is exactly nothing illegal about trading MoneyPak for Bitcoins. Sheesh.

So I had some extra cash laying around and after running errand, I found myself in close proximity to a walgreens. I was curious how the moneypak transaction would work because you give the clerk in the store your cash and he gives you this plastic card which has a scratch off. So I dump a few hundred onto the card and head home to try my luck at exchanging it for bitcoins.
I PM'd a few of the vendors on SR. Remember, this is my first time doing this and so I do not know what the "deal" is with this. First person to get back with me could not complete the exchange due to limits. Second person I contact tries to get me for a 20% fee--I decline. Finally, I contact Borneo and its a few hours but he gets back and says send over the moneypak numbers and its all very simple. I am like, hmm..OK. I just had a vibe that it was going to be alright. He is not selling, "catch your wife cheating on facebook" or "books on super hidden secrets except on SR". So I PM the moneypak numbers and go to bed. The next morning, I log in and check my account, there is a PM from Borneo explaining the moneypak to BTC conversion. Next, I check my BTC and the amount of BTC indicated in the PM has indeed been sent to my account! On top of the great service provided by Borneo, he only charged a 7% fee.
Therefore, my first ride into exchanging moneypak for BTC was pretty smooth. Consider this, after I sent the moneypak numbers, Borneo could have just kept them and sent nothing in return. He didn't and we need more people like that on SR.

I started with the usual Bank to Dwolla to gox, and even tried Bitcoin Morpheus with a postal money order. All of these take at lesast 3 to 7 days. Out of nowhere, Dwolla suspends the account and asks me to supply a scanned ID - WTF? My bank account was verified with test transactions and I am legit, small time dabbler. I can just see a years worth of DEA dossiers being compiled and using Dwolla and Gox to track back BTC exchanges to SR> You just wait. Ughhh.....Therefore , I think that Borneo and one other guy (RAPid) are Ok, but Borneo is less expensive and I have not seen Rapid on the SR for weeks. I am sure that Borneo is not getting rich, and the handling of the Green Dot accounts is not without risks if the dollar volume crosses the threshold of Federal money laundering regs. Meanwhile, hack at the ranch, we can thank Borneo for providing an Essential Service. Thanks Borneo, I hope you survive and thrive.
